Rosie Gibbens uses performances and videos to set up unlikely collaborations between the body and manufactured objects. She uses everyday items to present the hidden (or not so hidden) fetishistic implications of the mundane. Flesh becomes the landscape to animate or personify objects, as the ordinary functions of tools are rejected and the routine blend of organic and inorganic is exagerrated. Hoping to combine humourous and unsettling imagery, Rosie aims to make the boring erotic or the erotic boring. She confronts the gaze of spectators and cameras, turning viewers into unwilling voyeurs and questioning female representation.
